As I was walking home from work, I was feeling discouraged because a situation isn't going the way I want it to, and it seems very hopeless. I was praying about it, mostly whining, and I noticed a woman run up to a parking meter. Instead of putting money in it, though, she lifted her phone and started taking pictures of something behind me. Above me.
I stopped to see what she was looking at, and I was surprised to find a flaming sunset that was so beautiful I ended up going down by the river to take more photos. Strangers bonded over the colors of the sky. When I was down by the water, at least six other people arrived for the same reason. It was awesome that we were all moved by beauty to stop what we were doing and capture it.
Afterwards, I realized that before all this, I had been sad, and as a response, the Lord painted a beautiful sunset to cheer me up. Granted, I know the sunset was not just for me, but at that moment it felt like it was.
It was like God was saying I'm still glorious. You can still trust me.
