You know how you get songs stuck in your head? Sometimes I get Greek words stuck in my head. They just arrive and keep coming back, wanting to be said aloud.
Today that word was peripetia ( περιπέτεια), which is an adventure.
It was very appropriate given the fact that today we hiked the Franconia Ridge Trail Loop, three presidential mountains (maybe four?) in one go. We had spectacular weather, made excellent time, and avoided major injuries. My most joyful moment might have been when I saw a dog that looked like Makai (my dog back home) being carried in one hiker's backpack.
And the bonus end of the day: flights.
At least, that might have been Jeremy's highlight. I was saddened by our imitation pizza and my white sangria, but that's another matter. The victory was being surrounded in the beauty of creation, and treading on the heights.
The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights. -Habakkuk 3:19
