I'm not in Montreal, but that is where my latest couch surfer is from, and we've had THE BEST evening.
Her bus, unfortunately, was three hours later than expected--which was okay for me because I needed to work on my Fulbright application, but seemed like a bummer for her--but once she arrived, I was ready to show her Providence.
We walked along the river and down to India point park; she entertained me and my latest Motif assignment of trying all the coffee milks (she doesn't drink caffeine, but she "smelled its essence"; we got Rhode Island Weiners and went to Pawtuxet village; we visited my friend's grandfather and heard amazing stores; we had our tea and ate at The Elephant Room; and we ended downtown, with fabulous cocktails and mocktails at the hands of my friend, Nick.
It wasn't just the "what we did" that made the day special, of course. It was the fact that she is one of the sweetest, most genuine people I've met. I'm continually amazed at the people I'm fortunate enough to host in my city, and I'm glad to add Stefanie to the list. I hope our paths cross again someday soon.
