Very Random Things
Gosh. I think this might be the time of year when New Years resolutions become difficult... Or was that back in February?
I had many moments of joy. Discipleship class is always a deeply satisfying way to start my day. The sunshine. The fact I found Brown's compost piles, and they're less than two blocks from my house so I can take my scraps there now. That the new recycling bin finally came and my overflowing bags of plastic and cardboard are no longer overflowing. Getting to leave work early and write at the cafe for 2.5 hours. Going to writing group!!
As a side note, I'm trying to be more intentional about my Sabbath, and this involves some forward thinking. Today, just as I developed a really great plan, all the variables changed in my weekend. Come onnnnn, man.
Someone I know described looking forward to Sabbath in the same way looking forward to a holiday--all the prep leading up to it, and then just that beautiful day to relax and enjoy it.
How can I recreate Christmas afternoon, that *reading on a couch listening to Christmas music* feeling every week? That is the best! But then of course, family is there. My family is far away, but that essence of loved ones nearby. We're all together, but we have our individual time, too. Hmm. These are things currently on my mind.
If you have Sabbath practices, I'd love to hear them! Mine, clearly, is a work in progress.
