Sarah Day

We put our beach adventure on the calendar a month ago. It's been two years since we journeyed to Westerly together in hopes of a TSwift sighting, and we were overdue for another Sarah and Jenny day.  

Sarah is my bff from the Gold's Gym of yore. She's appeared in Joyful quite a bit. We are almost birthday twins (in fact, her daughter and I share a birthday...and her son and my dad share a birthday. destiny!) and I love getting to spend time with her. Today I showed her Charlestown beach, which she'd never been to, and while it was a beautiful beach day, it was pretty packed and the waves were massive and a bit grimey. No problem, though! We still got to camp out under her SPF Umbrella and read and talk about Greek things (where would I be without friends who humored me? She's the best.)

And then we went to a lobster boil.  

I mentioned winning tickets here, but I didn't realize they were $100 tickets that included free drinks, tables of appetizers, and an actual sit-down lobster dinner complete with dessert tables afterwards, and coffee.  

I was feeling full after the appetizers, and only a during my second helping of enchiladas from Roadrunner food truck  -- THEYRE FROM NEW MEXICO AND THEY IMPORT HATCH GREEN CHILE-- did I realize we had an actual dinner ahead of us.

We were each given whole lobsters, two corns on the cob, potatoes, mussels, clams, sausage...  

And of course, I had no idea how to crack into a lobster. Thankfully, sitting beside me was none other than Brian, lobster eating expert, and he instructed me on how to successfully deconstruct a lobster and acquire tail meat. I wish I'd gotten a video. It was hugely gratifying, and I now feel like a more well-rounded, cosmopolitan person because of it. (Thanks, Brian!) 

Dont even get me started on dessert.  

Technically couldn't eat these because they're made with almond flour, but they're the prettiest.

I will spare you details, but my joyful eating turned into gluttony and resulted in food guilt, but the Joy of my day was time with my lovely friend and our adventures together. 

And, perhaps, the fact I can now find Mexican food in RI.
