hi there.

Welcome to my blog. I'm spending a year capturing happiness, and I invite you to come along as I journey toward a more joyful living. I also write about travel, food, and matters of the spirit. Hope you enjoy!

Burger Time

Burger Time

While updating Instagram at work--for my work, not for myself--I realized that time was running out for me to get a specialty burger from Statesman Tavern, and it was necessary that I try this burger!

This is what lured me to the burger in the first place:

Too many good things are happening here

I happen to be a fan of the Statesman Tavern (as I wrote about them here and here), and particularly a fan of the owners, who also own a restaurant called Chomp, down in Warren. Chomp has the best burgers in Rhode Island, so I was a little confused as where this burger was appearing.

Well, at the Statesman Tavern, obviously.

(Chomp has a different burger in the competition, which was part of my joyful moment here.) But the competition ends this month, and I don't have any other free nights this week, and I panicked! MUST. HAVE. BURGER! MUST. GO. TONIGHT!!

I quickly SOS texted friends to see if anyone was available to join me. All of them had something going on, but one friend, the wonderful Morgan (for whom I once documented my food) took a look at the burger and aborted her other plans.

This is true friendship, when it's solidified by a love of food.

To be fair, her other plans were with a mutual friend, so she just convinced him to join us. Thus, at the last minute on a whim, we piled in her car and drove to Bristol to try this burger.

Not exactly as divine as the IG photo, but it got the job done.

Verdict: a delicious burger

The pickled tomato and mustard seeds were a nice touch, and the blended patty itself was really rad. But I think I might have to declare the winner Chomp... I'll cast my official vote this evening!

Anyway, the gratitude of the day was having friends who said, "Yes, let's DO drive to another city in order to eat a burger this very moment," and getting to share that experience with them :)

ps. They said the lobster roll was UH-MAZ-ing, just fyi
