Today at work I was given a new task to do, a one-time project, but something I haven't done before that involved Excel sheets and lots of math.
As a surprise to all, this was the most engrossed I've been at work in months. I was so focused and diligent--I checked the clock once when I was eating lunch (at 3:00pm) and again at 7:00pm when time to go home.
It was nice to be so engaged. I think I've been in rebellion for a while because of Documentation, which is sort of like that house chore you never ever ever want to tackle and will do everything in your power to do EVERY OTHER THING EXCEPT THAT. But finally, whatever it is--say, power cleaning the windows--is the only thing left to do, and then you have no choice but to do it.
Doing Documentation is sort of like having to power clean 5,000 windows. Granted, I've been doing a good job of procrastinating, but today allowed me to feel productive in my procrastination, and I would go so far as to say it was fun. Almost like a puzzle.
On another note, I was grateful today for weather blessings on my commute: the rain subsided just enough that I didn't need my umbrella as I walked to and from work, and that helped to brighten otherwise grey skies.
