This is a pre-thankfulness, for the birthday of one of my favorite Greeks--and one of the best people I know--Tassos of Thassos.
(I just figured out how to draw on a photo, and technically that was my thankful moment of the day.)
June 6th is his birthday, and a year ago today I was in Thassos celebrating alongside his family and friends. Since I cannot be there this year, I'm honoring him via social media.
There are not enough Joyful blogs to commemorate the ways in which Tassos has made my life brighter. For example, he surprised me with Mexican food last year on my "Thirty on Thassos" birthday extravaganza, he organized not one but TWO birthday cakes, he always reserved a seat for me at the staff table, and he graciously welcomed me into his parea. For all the coffees, the jokes, the special Tzenaki-sized meals, the fishing, the hikes, the yia mas's, and the smiles--I hope that this year he receives double the joy he has given to others.
Χρόνια πολλά και καλά, Τάσο!
