Amy's Place is the name of a restaurant on Wickenden street in Providence. It has a small blue interior with a hidden back porch that holds a handful of tables. The restaurant/cafe serves smoothies and sandwiches and the most amazing omelets I've ever seen.
Today I took a lunch break to meet two of my friends (my Thursday girls--on a Wednesday! Madness!) at Amy's Place, and it was the best because:
1. The weather is FINALLY WARM. Spring? Summer? I don't know, but it was perfect! There was glorious sunshine--the kind of day where one could easily spend hours on the outdoor patio sipping smoothies and swapping stories.
2. In addition to sunshine, there was also soaking up Yelena before she leaves in two weeks. It was one of those afternoons where instead of worrying about what lies ahead, we were all just present in the moment. I felt like we were part of the Yia Yia sisterhood, or the sisterhood of the traveling pants (<--Greece! Let's have it be that one). Sarah was looking so Jackie O. in her summer dress, with her fancy sunglasses, polished nails, and stack of Glamour magazines. Yelena was coming straight from the gym, looking tough yet polished in black, and I wore holey jeans to work because I have no class. And yet. There we all were. Enjoying the day.
I also had a great morning with discipleship class, getting so pumped about what "The Good News" really is and unpacking what makes it so good, and ending the day with my Weast Side (east siders who meet on the west side) home group.
Friends who become family. Maybe that was the theme of the day. And sunshine, always sunshine.
