My joyful moments today center around language.
But first, did you notice? The heart flower!
Also, did you notice? Camera! I have a phone again! Rejoice!
Okay, back to language.
My phone was going around unprotected-- with no shatterproof, lifeproof case-- and it was if I were carrying crystal china everywhere I went; I was being super careful.
But this could not go on. I went to the Apple Store to inquire about cases, and the person who helped me spoke five languages. We talked about The Global Scavenger hunt, leaning Greek, and free language apps. It was great talking to him, both encouraging and inspiring, and he was very supportive of my Greek obsession.
Which leads me to dinner, where I surrounded myself with Greeks yet again! But it was bittersweet: two of my friends, who were among my first Greek friends at Brown--they were my go-to coffee dates, conversation practice, Mexican burrito-making guinea pigs, basically family-- are leaving Providence. Father and daughter will go to Greece on Saturday, and mom will join them as soon as she walks at graduation.
I'm going to miss them so much! They were the glue to my Greek family here in Rhode Island.
But I got to hear Greek again, and someone even told me I had little to no accent. It was nice to be around this circle of friends again...my Rhode Island parea.
