What a day!
Today is April 4th, which means in 10 days I will be in San Francisco meeting the other teams (and technically, the other half of MY team) and learning where our first destination will be!
[In case you don't know what I'm referring to, I'm am about to compete, along with my teammate Mark, in a Global Scavenger Hunt--10 countries in 23 days, with hundreds of challenges (Amazing Race-style). But Mark and I wanted to do a little more than just compete, so we're raising money to spread kindness in the form of orphan support, clean water, and refugee care. Our goal is to raise $1 for every mile we travel. You can find all the details here or at globalscavengers.com]
Since we're getting so close to the big day, it was time to launch our fundraising campaign. This has been in the works for the last month, trying to discern organizations to support and how to best go about this process while involving YOU, our friends, family, readers, and encouragers. We finally landed on one, and today was the day we officially took to social media to get the word out.
There is much left to be done, many people to email, more money to raise. But I wanted to take a moment to be thankful for the outpouring of love I felt from those who responded today to share the post on social media and to donate their resources to help others less fortunate. It is truly a blessing to see!
AND the coolest part is that we hit $1,000 today!
Can you imagine!
The old Jenny would be quick to point out, that's only 1/30th of the goal...we still have $29,000 to raise. But the 2017 Jenny says, THAT IS AWESOME. That is $1,000 more than we had yesterday. That is $1,000 that can now be used for giving people clean water, or giving scholarships to orphans for school, or giving refugees who've left everything behind a small sense of humanity.
That is a reason to rejoice.
That is, as my friends would say, one push-up.
And so I will end this post with my request to you, as I must. If you are able to contribute, any amount, will you join us? I want you to know you are giving more than just money...
You're giving hope.
And do you know what you get in return?
"And let us continue to spur one another on toward love and good deeds..." Hebrews 10:24
