Today was EPIC.
I'm currently at the intermission of The Lion King, (Broadway comes to RI), which is the realized version of my childhood. I think I'm having a better time than all of the children that are surrounding me. The music! The costumes! The dialogue! It's seriously the cartoon movie brought to life.
I'm just in awe.
Today also had its highlights prior to seeing the mystical sunrise over the Serengeti and hearing African chants.
First of all: March 7th is my parents' anniversary. They've been married 46 years! I woke up giving thanks for their marriage, their faithfulness, and their steadfast love for each other and the Lord (and me!)
Second: there's a magazine in RI called Newport Life that had a writing contest back in December. It was about readers' memorable experiences in Newport. I knew the spring issue was where winners would be disclosed (and their work appear inside), but I was told they had already mailed copies to the people who were published, and alas, I recevied nothing in the mail.
This morning someone texted me two pictures that MADE MY DAY (I said to them as much, in all caps):
This is a glossy magazine, too! One small step for a writer, one giant leap for a Fushilou.
Lastly: this morning I had some exciting thoughts regarding The Global Scavenger Hunt outreach aspect. There's still some logistics to work out, but the wheels are turning...
And as they say, Hakuna Matata.
