The time has come! I rid myself of donut after donut (with some chocolate and ice cream thrown in), and today was the beginning of my journey into clean(er) eating.
I started the day early at my friend's house in Warren, and after she sent me away with tea, I went to the supermarket and dropped an unruly amount of money on fruits, vegetables, spices, and kitchen devices that I've been meaning to purchase but never got around to it.
I even looked up recipes (Jenny? Cook?) and bought the ingredients to make them.
Look at me being an adult!
And when I sat down for breakfast--no articfical sweetener in my coffee today, thank you--and ate my breakfast, I wanted to break into song for how good it feels to be treating my body better.
For the record, it's not like I was eating sticks of butter and mac and cheese topped with bacon on the regular, and even now I'm not going crazy. I'm allowing myself whole grains and cheese and dairy; I'm only giving up sugar (fruit withstanding), but considering I'm the person who ate ice cream every night for a matter of years (well, "low fat frozen yogurt"), it just feels like I'm being more mindful of this one body I've been given.
I'm excited to see where this journey takes me.
