I had a joyful moment all picked out, but the fact that I have just succeeded in putting clean sheets on my bed and am finally laying down on them is a very close second.
But the most joyful moment was attending a fundraiser event at Bayberry for the four children of the refugee woman who was tragically killed, and seeing such an amazing turnout—so many vendors that offered up their time, their food, their beverages, their equipment, and all of the people who came out and gave money to this cause. It was a beautiful time of community, in the true spirit of giving.
(Side note: a special thank you to my friends who couldn’t attend the event, but still contributed money to it. Your kindness is so appreciated and received with humble thanksgiving <3)
Amidst the grand sense of community and love, however, there was a standout moment. This is embarrassing to admit, but it was, in fact, a waffle.
The Burgundian Waffle company is a pop-up RI waffle restaurant that makes THE MOST DELICIOUS WAFFLES EVER. And ice cream! I’d heard of them, salivated at their photos on social media, and intended to go to their events, but tonight was the first night I tasted their sweet golden goodness. It far exceeded my expectation of waffles. I may have to rethink the very important icebreaker question: are you a pancake or a waffle person?
And! Evidently one of their pop up locations is at a gelato store, if you can imagine that trifecta! (waffle + gelato + Jenny = end of the world as we know it).
The owner told me the word Burgundian is an all-encompassing word used in (Belgium?) that means lover of food, drinks--in both quality and quantity--and the company: the whole food/meal package.
This is such an upgrade for my life’s title! I am not a foodie any longer, my friends, oh no. I am a Burgundian.
