hi there.

Welcome to my blog. I'm spending a year capturing happiness, and I invite you to come along as I journey toward a more joyful living. I also write about travel, food, and matters of the spirit. Hope you enjoy!

Poetry

Poetry

Today I met with my small group of prayer girls, and then at Home Group where we broke off into small prayer groups, and after both rounds of prayer, I was like, “Thanks, guys—That was fun!”

Who am I?

But really, it was that same feeling one gets after completing an art project or writing a story, this sense of creative accomplishment. Not that we are the ones accomplishing anything, but it just feels like a collaborative piece of art with God. We labor and rejoice and struggle and surrender and somehow this beautiful thing emerges.

One of my favorite quotes is Ephesians 2:10, often translated as, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

However, the word “handiwork” is actual ποίημα  (poima) in Greekmeaning poetry.

We are God’s poetry, created in Christ Jesus to do all such works which he has prepared for us. Isn’t that lovely? We are his artwork, an expression of feeling, and I believe today there was poetry in our prayers.
