It'll Grow Back
1. The Jens do breakfast at Julian's... which is a rather fun, and somewhat poetic, thing to say.
2. Writing group, as always, was so good. So fun. So inspiring.
3. Hair reactions. It's nice that people noticed the change and said kind things, although my favorite incident happened at writing group. One person asked if my hair was darker, and--oh, did you cut it, too?--while another person asked if I was sick because I sounded a little sick. I answered yes, to both, and then I heard Karen say from across the room, "It's okay; your hair will grow back," in a very consoling sort of way.
Anyone who knows me can probably imagine the look on my face.
Evidently, Karen sensed that I looked unhappy. Not having heard the "Are you sick?" question and only hearing, "Did you cut your hair?" she assumed that my sadness (which I also didn't realize I was projecting--but good to know I can be sick on cue!) was caused by my haircut. Her response was so funny. No, please Karen, tell me how you really feel.
For the record, she was not trying to insult me, only to make me feel better. My writing group is the best :)
