One of the refugee women who was living in RI (from the Congo) was recently murdered, leaving behind four children, ages 7 to 20.
Because this was so tragic and shocking to the community, some local restaurants and businesses want to chip in to help.
She worked at a restaurant called Tom’s Bao Bao—as Does her oldest daughter—so tonight they hosted an ornament making event (via Yelp) to create ornaments for giving trees at both Tom’s and the local beer hall, Bayberry. They’re $5 to purchase, and the proceeds to go the children (and funeral costs).
My friend Sheri and I were able to volunteer through Yelp to make the ornaments, and it was really fun seeing so many people making beautiful things. There’s also an event next Monday (Dec 4th) at Bayberry to raise money. It’s $20 at the door and then food/drink are provided. If anyone wants to come as my guest let me know ASAP!
(If you have a yelp account, you can register and bring your own guest 😊)
So that, along with praying with my girls beforehand, was my Joyful moment.
