hi there.

Welcome to my blog. I'm spending a year capturing happiness, and I invite you to come along as I journey toward a more joyful living. I also write about travel, food, and matters of the spirit. Hope you enjoy!

Catwalk

Catwalk

Today I got to walk across the roof of my church, onto the catwalk above the sanctuary, in order to change lightbulbs.

It's something I've looked forward to since becoming a vestry member 2.5 years ago. Most of the vestry members are afraid of heights, and Joe--the person who's done this before and would gladly do it again--has been forbidden to do so because he's 87. <--I don't know his age for certain, but something like this.

Erica was prepared to power drill extension boards onto the catwalk (something that turned out to be unnecessary, but beyond my capability), so she was my right hand woman. She ended up doing most of the work. I took pictures and used my cell phone as a flashlight.

I did, however, change two lightbulbs and manage to not touch (directly) insulation or mouse droppings, though I came close to both.

(I could hear my mom's voice in my head shouting, "Hantavirus!")

It was really fun :)
