I accidentally found an amazing sermon online today. My friend Sheri had recommended another one by the same church, but I couldn't find it. The one I found instead, though, was so AMAZING. WITH ALL CAPS!
I've mentioned that on Wednesday's I have discipleship class in the morning. We've been talking about what it means to follow the way of Jesus (which the pastor below did a great job of differentiating from a "Christian"), and this sermon just hit on every point so perfectly. He talks about what it meant to be a Rabbi and a disciple; he talks about the disciplines and why they're important; he emphasized that following Jesus is something we do not because we get a get-into-heaven-for-free card, but because life is so much better! It's beautiful and full of hope and joy and love. Also, and this is important when listening to a sermon: the pastor is funny.
I already want to listen to it again--it was that good.
So, all the Jesus things (including "alter" with Greg!) and --of course-- writing group were the highlights of my Wednesday. Wednesdays are the best!
