A week ago, I wrote that my happy moment was to be alive because I had a food allergy scare.
But I wasn't sure if it was an allergic reaction to celery or almond butter. Both?
Today I went to the allergist, and they did a skin test, which I've never experienced before.
The doctor called a test for all nuts, celery, and birch pollen (due to the possibility of an oral allergy syndrome, which I still think is a possibility).
Goodbye almond milk, chocolate almond croissants, Seven Stars granola, and almond butter. It's been a great run, and I will miss you. But I'm glad to know to know we can part of good terms. Thanks for not killing me.
(Raw celery was not ruled out as causing a reaction because it doesn't always show up on a skin test, so I plan to avoid it also. But the sacrifice is not as painful.)
In consolation for saying goodbye to almonds, I bought myself seven books from Barnes and Noble, a la Christmas gift cards. Thanks, Mom and Dad, for making me feel better from 2,400 miles away.
