This morning I received a phone call from the owner of a restaurant in Rhode Island. (Technically, the owner of two restaurants in Rhode Island.)
He explained to me that his newest restaurant has been opened for a while --it actually opened just as I was heading off to Greece, so I didn't get to review it before I left-- but so far writers have only piggy-backed on his previous (and successful) burger and beer restaurant. He wants someone to capture the essence of what this place is, what it's all about.
He thinks I am the right person for this job.
I once said my life had peaked when I was asked to be a judge at a statewide cookie contest, but this request was equally an honor. I am touched that a business owner values my style of writing, and more than that, requests my presence at his restaurant. Because DEFINITELY, YES.
This gives me something to look forward to for the next week or so, and sometimes, even just a small something to look forward to is enough to sustain you through the difficult road ahead.
PS. Photo cred to The Statesman Tavern. This isn't the last time you'll be hearing about them.
